artwork  installed  at
local   community   housing    project

Richard and Michele Fritz of Art by the Yard Studio donated a digital collage on canvas to Donnelly Housing, a supported housing community of Kansas City, Kansas. The artwork will be unveiled at the facility along with artworks by other local artists on June 26th.

This art installation is a collaboration of Metro Lutheran Ministry, Kim Wilson Housing, ArtMakers' Place and local artists to create fine art paintings now installed in permanent supportive housing developments for formerly homeless individuals, Grace Homes and Luther Johnson Homes in KCK.

Kim Wilson Housing provided the canvas and local artists have donated their time and talents in an effort to create awareness and de-stigmatize homelessness.

The artwork, featured to the right, portrays the often obstacled path from poverty to mainstream.  The artwork was inspired by a conversation with tenants of Grace Homes and Luther Johnson Homes, and by teens in the court system from Richard and Michele's previous work in facilities of Jackson County Family Court.

"We hope our piece encourages creative thinking, exploration, ideas, and conversations within the building." (Richard Fritz, Partner, Art by the Yard Studio)

The  Book  Show

Funded in part by an Inspiration Grant awarded to Richard Fritz, we present a specially created collection of art books by Richard Fritz, Michele Fritz and Terri Wheeler.

THE BOOK SHOW was inspired by the book, "Flutemaker" written by Charles Wycoff and illustrated by Richard Fritz, the story of a flute maker from 17th century India and his quest for the perfect flute sound. We present to you,  hand made books created using fine art printing techniques including linoleum block prints, cyanotype prints,  laser transfers and collage to emphasize the story elements.
